Citrus Spine Institute CEO and Surgeon Constantine Toumbis, MD

Constantine Toumbis, MD, has served as chief executive officer and spine surgeon at the Citrus Spine Institute in Crystal River, Florida, since opening the facility in 2016. He also holds privileges at Tampa General Hospital North and HCA Florida Citrus Hospital. A few of his previous appointments include board member at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Florida, and vice chairman of the Florida Citrus Hospital Board of Trustees, also in Inverness. For nearly a decade, Constantine Toumbis, MD, balanced his responsibilities at the Citrus Spine Institute with his duties with the Citrus Memorial Hospital board of trustees.

In addition to his many academic and professional appointments, Constantine Toumbis, MD, is an extensively published medical professional. He has published articles in the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research and the Journal of Medicine, chapters in books like Plenum Press’s Angiogenesis in Health and Disease, and several abstracts, among many additional publications.

Constantine Toumbis earned his medical degree with distinction in biomedical research from Wayne State University. He attended the Roswell Park Graduate Division of Science at the State University of New York at Buffalo, earning a doctor of experimental pathology and a graduate degree in the natural sciences. A licensed physician in Florida and New York, he is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
